Neutral Tones design with circles and bubbles

Earth Harmony

As an amateur artist, my journey has always been about the joy of creating. Art is a personal activity, a way for me to express myself – for pleasure rather than profit. But as we approach 2025, and with encouragement from my wonderfully supportive friends and family, I’ve decided to take a leap. I’m timidly stepping into the world of competition, and what better way to begin than with a company like Wraptious?

Who Are Wraptious?

Wraptious is an inspiring North Manchester-based company that celebrates and supports independent artists like me. They started in 2013 with a mission to create a platform where creativity and sustainability thrive hand in hand. Wraptious doesn’t just sell beautiful homeware and gifts; they actively seek out fresh talent, giving artists the chance to showcase their work to a wider audience.

One of their standout initiatives is their biannual competitions. These contests give artists the opportunity to have their designs featured on products like vegan-suede cushions, notebooks, and prints. The best part? It’s not just about winning—it’s about being part of a vibrant community of creators and art lovers. Artists can promote their designs, and customers can choose to vote for or purchase their favourites. Every purchase even plants a tree, reinforcing Wraptious’ dedication to sustainability.

Winter Competition

For their Winter Competition, Wraptious invites artists to submit up to three designs, which are showcased on their website. From there, the public can vote for their favourite designs with a simple click or show their support by purchasing an item featuring the artwork. Every vote or sale counts towards the final results, which include prizes and opportunities for the most popular entries. Wraptious also offers additional rewards to artists whose designs catch the eye of their in-house team, giving everyone a fair chance to shine.

Entering this competition feels like a natural yet still a bit nerve-wracking first step. Sharing my art publicly is still new territory, but the warmth and excitement surrounding Wraptious have made this an encouraging and enjoyable experience.

By Design

For this competition, I created three abstract cushion designs, each featuring a unique interplay of bubbles and circles in blue, neutral, and orange hues. These designs were heavily influenced by emerging interior design trends for 2024/2025, which focus on harmony, balance, and the clever use of colour.

The blue design, titled Azure Ripple, evokes calm and serenity, reminiscent of ripples across a tranquil pond. It’s designed to bring a sense of peace to any space.

The neutral designEarth Harmony, reflects understated elegance, with soft tones that seamlessly blend into a variety of interiors.

The orange designAmber Whirl, captures energy and warmth, with swirling circles that radiate vibrancy and joy.

Each design explores a declination of colour palettes, using gradients and layering techniques to create depth and movement. Abstract shapes like bubbles and circles are incredibly versatile, working beautifully on cushions as they add texture and intrigue without overwhelming a room. The many colours woven into each design also make them adaptable, complementing a wide range of interior colour schemes.

Why Abstract Designs Work for Cushions

Cushions are a unique canvas for art. Unlike a framed piece hanging on a wall, they are tactile, interactive, and central to a room’s decor. Abstract designs, in particular, work wonderfully because they blend artistry with function. The soft, flowing forms of bubbles and circles create visual interest while remaining subtle enough to match different styles.

What makes these designs especially appealing is their multi-coloured nature. Whether your living space is themed around cool blues, warm neutrals, or bold, earthy tones, these cushions can tie the room together. They act as both statement pieces and harmonious accents, making them a versatile choice for any home.

Joining the Community

Entering the Wraptious competition has been a delightful experience. It’s humbling to be part of such a supportive initiative, and knowing that every vote or purchase helps not only me but also the environment, adds an extra layer of meaning. So here’s to the first dipping of my toes into the world of art competitions.

If you want to support my designs, you can vote or purchase directly from the Wraptious website. Every click, share or purchase makes a difference, and I’m so grateful for the encouragement I’ve already received. Here’s to this exciting step forward—and to the joy of sharing art with the world!
